day lights the bone
created for & performed in Red Shade Plaza along the Hudson river
New York City, July 2007
Bone Orchard's inaugural piece, day lights the bone, was a meditation on the relentless grid system of New York and its varying rhythms throughout the day. Framed by the Hudson and the New Jersey shoreline in one direction and new Donald Trump developments in the other, the short piece asked questions about how we inhabit this city and at what cost to those who came before us.
Inspired by a Dylan Thomas poem, it featured 20 performers, who wove in and amidst the spectators.
